November 9 - 12, 2018: It was announced on September 26, 2018 by event organizers that The 11th Annual Sarasota Chalk Festival has been postponed until an as yet undetermined date in Spring 2019. The 11th Annual Sarasota Chalk Festival takes place for its 5th year in Venice, Florida. The theme of the 2018 festival is: 'Garden of Wonder' - "A tribute to the marvels of the natural world and the human imagination." Hundreds of chalk artists will create artwork using the pavement of the Venice Airport Festival Grounds as their canvas and the grounds will also serve as the main parking area and site of the 4 day event. Last year over 500 national and international artists participated in the Sarasota Chalk Festival. The fest features street painting; 3D Pavement Art, Traditional Pavement Art as well as other events and attractions connected to the fest

November 9 - 12, 2018: Come out and enjoy the 9th AnnualSiesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition. Master Sand Sculptors from across the U.S. will compete in paired teams for Thousands in prize money. Other events connected to the competition will take place, as well. Those activities, including live music and food and retail vendors in a "vendor village" setting are also a part of the festival. November 9 - 18, 2018: It's the Englewood Beach Waterfest, Englewood's version of the Sarasota Offshore Grand Prix Super Boat Racing Fest.  Numerous events include: Paddlefest, Block Party, The Family Conservation Center, OPA/APBA Offshore World Championship. On the racing card are multiple classes of high speed offshore racing boats, vying for awards, off Engelwood Beach. A Race Boat block party takes place Friday evening, Nov. 16 starting at 5 p.m. on Dearborn Street with the street lined with race boats and In the park there will be music, food and drinks along with vendors. Free admission to the block party. Racing is both Saturday and Sunday and awards ceremonies after the races at 7 p.m. in the Race Village. November 10, 2018: Enjoy the 17th Annual Suncoast Food & Wine Festivalfeaturing unlimited sampling of fare from dozens of Suncoast Restaurants. November 10, 2018: It's A Musical Event in the Key of Sea: Symphony on the Sand will return to Coquina Gulfside Park and provide the opportunity for you to enjoy the award-winning Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra (a 45-piece orchestra) during sunset on Anna Maria Island as well as wine, beer and the best delicacies from the top area restaurants. November 10 - 11, 2018: It's the 30th Annual St. Armand's Circle Fall Art Festival around Circle Park. Usually held under sunny skies, with warm temperatures, this outdoor festival on my Sarasota Calendar of Events is attended by thousands of art lovers who come to see and buy the works of artists from around the nation. November 10 - 11, 2018: Check out the Vintage and Collectibles Fair with lots of exhibitors with everything from antiques, books, collectibles, linens and more. November 11, 2018: You can salute local vets during the Sarasota Veterans' Day Parade. The Parade, hosted by the City of Sarasota in conjunction with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, will begin at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue and will end at approximately 11 a.m. at Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park at the corner of Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue where a ceremony will be held. The theme is: "All gave some. Some gave all."  This year's parade honors Vietnam Veterans.  All local high schools and Veterans groups will participate in the parade along with various patriotic organizations including the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution, DAV, POW Assiciation, Anerican Legion, POW Association, Vet Center, Vets on bikes, Red Cross, Sarasota Fire Department, Sarasota Sheriff Department, Sarasota Police Department, VFW, Goodwill, DAV, Boy and Girl Scouts, EMS, Red Cross, MOA group, WWII female Veterans, Veterans for Common Sense. November 11, 2018: Celebrate Mass at Sarasota National Cemetery to recognize the sacrifices of those who served; to honor them, and to pray for the repose of their eternal souls – as well as for the intentions of the living. There will be a program prior to mass. The event will be held in the Amphitheater, located in Patriot Plaza of the National Cemetery, beginning at 2:30 p.m., with Mass starting promptly at 3:00 p.m. Active military personnel are encouraged to wear their uniform. November 12, 2018: The Veteran's Day Parade on Anna Maria Island starts at 1 p.m. from City Hall and will go to the City Pier Park. Honor guards, high school marching band, the Privateers, and more. November 11, 2018: It's the Waves of Hope annual Music Festival Fundraiser!There will be Live Bands, DJs, Raffles, Auctions, 50/50, Local Vendors, Live Art, Photo Booth and more including The fabulous and hilarious Miss Beneva Fruitville, who will be announcing raffle and auction winners at 6pm! All proceeds will go towards Waves of Hope, a healing retreat for grieving parents. November 17, 2018: It's the LWR running Club's Turkey Trot Thanksgiving-themed 5K with turkey-themed volunteers, turkey water stop and turkey music. Another of the numerous open air festivals on my November Sarasota Events Calendar, this outdoor event is held in Historic Downtown Venice, on west Venice Avenue. With free admission for all, the Fest takes place from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day and features the works of over 150 artists. The weather in Sarasota and along the gulf coast is usually perfect for the Venice Art Fest

November 4, 2018: It's the 44th annual Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club’s premier southwest Florida event: Gulf Coast Cycle-fest! Join with other cyclists from around the country as they enjoy new routes through Manatee County. Not a race, it's designed to be a whole family event with routes of 104, 79, 63, 35, or 20 mile distances. Number of riders is limited. Breakfast and lunch provided. Get in early. November 5 - 16, 2018: The Orioles are once again teaming up this fall with local nonprofits Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program and All Faiths Food Bank to fight hunger in Sarasota. To support the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program, the Orioles will collect non-perishable food items at Ed Smith Stadium beginning on Monday, November 5, and will host the charity’s Thanksgiving Sorting Day at the ballpark on Friday, November 16, 2018. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at Ed Smith Stadium on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The collection station is located inside Café 54 on Euclid Avenue.
