June 21, 2019: Enjoy an evening on the bay front and some free live music as the 18th annual summer music fest kicks off summer with "Friday Fest" at the Van Wezel with live music by Big Night Out – a grooving six-piece dance band performing Latin, r&b and island dance music! A powerful horn section and Latin percussion add to the commanding vocals of Frank Alverez. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, take in the music along with the beautiful Sarasota sunset and enjoy food and beverage from food trucks and drink vendors. Outside food and drink is prohibited. June 25 - 26, 2019: The Kids Summer Beach Runs are 1-mile beach runs held every Tuesday (through July, 30) at Siesta Beach on Siesta Key near the pavilion, and every Wednesday (through July 31) at Brohard Beach  (1600 Harbor Drive) next to the Venice Fishing Pier, near Fins at Sharky's, Venice. For ages 1 - 17, participation ribbons are awarded along with a free ice pop each week. Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the beach run starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. Free. The runs are a popular summer event combining exercise and fun. Complete four runs and earn a free custom T-shirt along with other prizes. More at 941-861-5000

June 29, 2019: It's the 4th Annual Bob Rizi Memorial Golf Classic, an event of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival. Play takes place at the Meadows Country Club and like the entire festival raises money for Suncoast Charities for Children. This event will not take place for the 2019 Power Boat Grand Prix Festival. June 29: The original "Miss Super Boat Grand Prix” Bikini Contest is now the Miss Powerboat P1 Swimwear Contest. It will take place during the "Boats by the Bay" Party in the Pits event. Following 2 rounds of earlier competition; one at 6:30 p.m. which is designated as "Club Wear," the other at 8:30 p.m. for Swimsuits, the crowning of Miss Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will take place at 10:30 p.m. The contest is open to the general public to participate in. Past year prizes were: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $750, 3rd Place $500, 4th Place $150, 5th Place $100. June 29 - July 7, 2019: One of the biggest Sarasota happenings of the year is the Suncoast Offshore Powerboat Racing Festival. The Festival is held annually. This race between million-dollar cigarette boats off one of our finest Gulf of Mexico Beaches is one of the must-see Sarasota happenings of the year. You don't need a ticket for the races and you can come as you are. June 30, 2019: It's the 35th Annual Grand Prix Boat and Personal Watercraft Fun Run Hosted by Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix. Enjoy a great day of boating and fun in support of charity! All types of powerboats, leisure craft vessels, jet skis, and personal watercraft are welcome. All proceeds to benefit Suncoast Charities for Children. June 6, 2019: It's the 2nd Annual Coastal Community Celebration to celebrate World Ocean's Day at the Florida Maritime Museum. An evening of family fun featuring the Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch, Sarasota Estuary Program, Audubon Society and more. Explore vendors, including food vendor Gulley's, serving a Cortez favorite, MULLET! Local artist David Skaggs, of Dave's World Art, will be sharing his creative and sustainable themed sculptures. David's sculptures are made from palm fronds and recycled treasures washed ashore Siesta Key Beach. You'll also want to get your hands dirty through a multitude of hands on educational activities, including an oyster touch tank, beach erosion, commercial fishing gear, and more. Wear blue to participate in this year's World Ocean's Day Theme, "Together We Can." Free. 6 p.m. 

June 6 - 9, 2019: It's the USRowing Youth National Championship. The championships, which serve as the premier youth rowing event in the United States, sees approximately 1,500 athletes competing in more than 350 crews, representing some 150 teams from across the country – all vying for national titles in 18 boat classes. June 7, 2019: Lakewood Ranch presents Music on Main the first Friday of each month from 6p.m  - 9 p.m with One Night Rodeo. Beer, wine and food available. June 8, 2019: Take part in the 3rd Annual World Oceans Day Festival, a fun, family friendly event celebrating our salty waters. A variety of ocean themed activities will be available for participants to learn about World Oceans Day. Dip nets into the water and discover the creatures beneath the waves. Learn amazing facts about our large wildlife—like sea turtles. Explore the history of fishing in Manatee County and 16 year olds and up will have a chance to test a kayak. June 8, 2019: The 19th Annual Suncoast Film Festival offers a feature- length program of short films produced by Digital Cinema students at State College of Florida. The narrative, documentary, experimental, and industrial productions explore themes of identity and self, social and safety issues, travel and entrepreneurism. June 9, 2109: It's Sharky's on the Pier's Sunset Beach Bash to celebrate their 3rd time being named best beach bar in Florida. They won the title in 2013, 2018 and again in 2019. June 17, 2019: The Jazz Club of Sarasota summer concert series continues at the Florida Studio Theatre Court Cabaret with The Danny Sinoff Trio with Patricia Dean. Danny Sinoff studied classical piano and turned to jazz at 17. His influences are Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Kenny Barron, Harry Connick, Jr and Frank Sinatra. Danny comes into his own with a style that is both swinging and emotionally heartfelt. On drums and vocals is Patricia Dean. As a drummer, she is an inspiring and supremely tasteful time-keeper, accompanist & soloist. On vocals, she is swinging, sensitive and musical. Completing the trio is Scott Smith on bass. Jazz Club members $35; non members $39. A full series subscription is $165 for the five concerts.
